Strong

Bifidobacterium is one of the two most important probiotic genera alongside Lactobacillus. B. infantis 35624 has the strongest single-strain evidence for IBS from a large dose-finding RCT (Whorwell et al., 2006). B. lactis BB-12 is the most documented probiotic strain in the world with over 400 publications. Bifidobacterium abundance naturally declines with aging, which correlates with increased gut inflammation and immune dysfunction — supplementation may help restore youthful microbiome patterns.
